US-based IT solutions provider Amdocs has decided to go slow with its hiring in the US and UK as the markets have matured, instead choosing to add more people at its new India centre in Gurgaon. The company will hire 250 people for its new centre over the next two months. |
"We are already doing 40 per cent of our product development from India and have 3,500 people at our Pune centre," said Executive VP Guy Dubois. The new centre would act as a key delivery centre for managed telecom services from India. |

Touting the Indian knowledge pool as the prime reason to add jobs, he said, the company would be going flat in terms of recruitment in the US and the UK. |
|
"Instead, we will be ramping up our presence in China, India, Vietnam and eastern Europe to capitalise on the emerging market opportunity." |
|
He also listed Latin America as one of the most dynamic telecom markets in the world, experiencing rapid growth of subscribers and competitive companies. |

Alok Srivastava, MD, Amdocs, said, "India has a cost advantage that will help the company manage delivery costs and lower total cost of ownership. As service providers continue to introduce new products and services over next-generation networks, driven by the increase in data and content activities, Amdocs believes it will continue to witness a demand for its products and services. |
