VSNL gets 26% in SA operator

Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL) has been allotted 26 per cent stake in the second network operator (SNO) in South Africa.
 
The company has received a communication to this effect from the ministry of communication, South Africa.
 
VSNL has informed the stock exchange that the "As per the communication received by TATA Africa Holdings (SA) (PTY) Ltd (Tata Africa), from the minister, ministry of communication, dated February 11, 2005, the minister has decided to allot to VSNL as part of the Tata group and represented by Tata Africa 26 per cent stake in second network operator (SNO)".
 
Tata group through VSNL will operate and manage national long distance and fixed-line network in South Africa.
