Wipro has registered a 20% rise in its consolidated net profit at Rs 428 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2005 as compared to Rs 356.9 crore in Q1FY05. Total income has increased 28% to Rs 2,261.9 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2005 from Rs 1,769 crore in Q1FY05.Wipro, on a stand-alone basis, has posted a 24% jump in net profit to Rs 404.9 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2005 as compared to Rs 326.8 crore in Q1FY05. Total income has increased 28% to Rs 2,035.5 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2005 from Rs 1,589.5 crore in Q1FY05.According to a Wipro release issued to the BSE, Azim Premji, Chairman of Wipro commenting on the results said "The strength of our business model and our ability to execute well was once again evident in the robust results of all our businesses. Our global IT business continued to sustain momentum. IT services component of the business witnessed strong volume growth & improved price realizations during the quarter. Our unique strengths in the technology and enterprise domains coupled with leadership in differentiated services, puts us in a strong position to lead industry growth. Looking ahead, for the quarter ending September 2005, we expect our revenue from our global IT services business to be approximately $422 million."Wipro's total man power strength as on June 30, 2005 stood at 41,911 employees, of which 28,891 employees accounted for IT services business (inclusive of 2,097 new employees) and 13,630 in BPO business.The company has added 29 new clients during the quarter. It has improved its client base in Asia and Europe. The company has added eight new clients in Asia, and five in Europe .The members of Wipro have approved the scheme of amalgamation of Wipro BPO Solutions, Spectramind, Mauritius and Spectramind, Bermuda with itself. Further, the company has fixed August 23, 2005 as the record date for the issue of bonus shares in the ratio of 1:1.
