Wipro today said it was taking preventive steps to stem discontent in the US at outsourcing.
“As a company, we have taken pro-active action,” said chairman Azim Premji during a press conference to announce the annual results. “Today, about 30 per cent of the people who are working (on our projects) in overseas countries are locals. That is one area of insurance we have built.”
“Our experience is that the total cost to the company on overseas (local) people is equal or less than the cost of sending people on H1-B visas from here,” said Premji.
