Wipro, India’s third largest IT services firm, has announced a strategic partnership with Lavasa Corporation to help the latter manage Information & Communication Technology (ICT) services across Lavasa city. The partnership includes the formation of a special purpose vehicle (SPV), which will support Lavasa city in the areas of city management system and services, e-Governance, ICT infrastructure and value added services.
Lavasa is free India’s first and largest hill city being developed by Lavasa Corporation, a subsidiary of the Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) where people can live, work, learn and play in harmony with nature. The SPV expects to derive a revenue of $100 million over the next 10 years from Lavasa city’s first town Dasve.
ICT infrastructure and value added services that the SPV is planning to offer include intelligent home solutions, digital lifestyle and voice-video-data services to various businesses operating out of Lavasa city.

Through this partnership, Wipro will design the detailed infrastructure for telecom services for governance, as also for the resident and visitors of Lavasa city. The company will provide telecom-based services that will facilitate smart homes, and buildings including integrated building management systems, physical security requirements and other on-demand services.

Lavasa city, being developed in an area spanning 100 sq kms, will have a self-sustaining economy of its own which will cut across the entire spectrum of socio-economic class, according to the promoters.
It will encompass hospitality, tourism and leisure on one hand and education, research and innovating businesses on the other.
