Wipro Technologies will soon launch a new platform as a part of its offerings to BFSI customers. The platform, which will integrate the technology (IT) with the operation (BPO), was under pilot now and would be launched shortly, Girish Paranjpe, President of Finance Solutions Division, Wipro Technologies told Business Standard. |
BFSI is the largest vertical for Wipro which contributes about 25 per cent to Wipro's Technologies revenue, with over 45 active customers. The company expects that the new model, once launched, will fetch the company about $100-150 million revenue in three years time. |
"We will offer combined service to the clients. Earlier we were going to the clients separately either saying them to help solving their technology problems or their BPO problems. Now we are saying we will combine the two and give end-to-end solutions to the clients when required," Paranjpe said. |
Earlier, most companies who are part of Wipro's BFSI account, manage the operation in-house on a platform which is either developed by them or chosen by them, whereas the software development on top of that was being done by Wipro. In BPO, while both the platform and the IT works is being done by the client, the business process works are being take care of by Wipro. |
"We will approach the client saying instead of you running this kind of operation in-house, we will run this operation on our platform. You won't have to invest on your team, hardware, software or application management "" everything will be done by us. We will charge them per usages "" It can be per claim process or policy issued, or per credit card statement issue," he added. |
The offerings apart from bringing more operational efficiency to the client, will also reduce the overall cost of running the operations by 20-30 per cent. |
This will also do away with a situation when a customer will have his own set of managers, and the service provider his own team, which most often results in a lot of duplication and overlapping of works, according to Paranjpe. "This will also de-risk the client because they are not worried about understanding the underline application. The learning process is cut down because we are bringing both things." |
Once the new platform is launched, Wipro will build up a dedicated team by taking people from the BFSI practice in Wipro Technologies and from Wipro BPO. |
"Once it is ready we will being in people from both sides and make it into one combined team. The team will be the part of BFSI," said Paranjpe. |
Wipro's BFSI practice employs about 11,000 people. Besides, about 4,000 people from Wipro BPO also work under the BFSI vertical. |
