Wipro has reported a 63% spurt in net profit to Rs 421.4 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2005 as compared to Rs 258.8 crore in the preceeding quarter of the last fiscal. Total income has increased 29% from Rs 1615.5 crore in Q4-04 to Rs 2084.4 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2005. |

For the year ended March 31, 2005, the company has reported a 63% jump in net profit to Rs 1494.8 as against the previous years profit of Rs 914.9 crore. Total income has increased 39% from Rs 5259.7 crore in FY-04 to Rs 7326.8 crore for the year ended March 31, 2005. |

According to a release issued by Wipro to the BSE, the company has registered a 35% rise in its consolidated net profit to Rs 433 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2005 as compared to Rs 320.8 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2004. Total revenues has increased 29% from Rs 1786.3 crore in Q4-04 to Rs 2312.1 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2005. |

The Group has posted a 58% jump in net profit to Rs 1628.5 crore for the year ended March 31, 2005 as compared to Rs 1031.5 crore for the year ended March 31, 2004. Total revenues has increased 39% from Rs 5881.2 crore in FY-04 to Rs 8169.8 crore for the year ended March 31, 2005. |

The release said that the board of directors of Wipro has recommended a final cash dividend of Rs 5 per share. The board also, subject to shareholders approval, has recommended for issue of bonus shares at the ratio of 1:1 (one equity share for every one share held). |

Wipro board has approved the proposal to amalgamate subsidiary companies - Wipro BPO Solutions (previously Wipro Spectramind Services), Spectramind, Bermuda and Spectramind, Mauritius - with itself, subject to members and creditors consent. |

The total head count as on March 31, 2005, stood at 41,857 employees, with IT services business accouting for 26,184 employees & 15,673 associates in BPO business. The company added 2,520 people during the quarter, with 1,187 people representing IT services division and 1,333 employees in BPO. |
