Exporters are pinning their hopes high on the Union Budget for 2017-18 for decisive fiscal measures which would act as a stimulus to revive the economic sentiment that had seen a short-term impact of the demonetisation, said the chairman of the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) India TS Bhasin.

He said that demonetisation and digitisation of the economy would be beneficial for the country in the long run. He further added that adjusting to the changing circumstances should be the new normal. Moving towards digital modes of payment for cash dependent operations would be good, reported The Economic Times.

"Budget would be critical to reviving investment sentiments followed by an introduction of the Goods and Services tax which will further ensure that the entire value chain in the economic activity is integrated and mapped electronically through the GST network," he said.
