Arkema has divested its activated carbon and filter aid business to American group Calgon Carbon, one of the leading players in activated carbon and in purification & filtration solutions, for Euro 145 million. With this project, Arkema continues to refocus its business portfolio on its core business and to implement its divestment program.

A part of the Arkema subsidiary CECA, the activated carbon and filter aid business activity represents sales of some Euro 93 million. It constitutes a coherent entity and is positioned in niche markets in Europe.

It employs around 300 people on 6 industrial sites in France and in Italy: the Parentis, Saint-Bauzile, Riom-es-Montagnes and Abidos sites in France, and the Legnago and Foggia sites in Italy.
