Assam Petrochemicals aims to start methanol and acetic acid plant in 2017

Grants a consultancy contract for its proposed expansion to Engineers India

Assam Petrochemicals is aiming to complete its expansion project, which will increase the methanol capacity from 100 tonnes per day (TPD) to 600 TPD and set up acetic acid plant (200 TPD), by 2017. As a part of this process, Assam Petrochemicals recently granted Engineers India a consultancy contract for its proposed 500 TPD methanol plant and 200 TPD acetic acid plant at Namrup, Assam.
 
Engineers India scope under the contract involves license, engineering, procurement and construction management (LEPCM) services for methanol ISBL plant & integrated OSBL plant of 500 TPD for methanol & 200 TPD acetic acid plant, with a completion schedule of 36 months.
 
The Ministry of Environment and Forests gave environment clearance for the project, which is estimated to cost Rs 1028 crores, in May 2014.
