Ehrfeld Mikrotechnik BTS GmbH (EMB), a subsidiary of Bayer Technology Services GmbH, has acquired a worldwide license from Alfa Laval to market and manufacture ART reactor technology. With these milli-structured plate reactors, which are used in laboratory, pilot and production plants, EMB is now the leading supplier of metal micro- and milli-structured reactors and apparatus.
“The ART reactor technology from Alfa Laval enables us to ideally round out our portfolio of innovative, robust plate reactors for production use. Their high performance really shines when it comes to fast and extremely exothermic or endothermic - and thus very demanding - reactions,” said Dr Joachim Heck, Managing Director, EMB.
Micro and milli-reactor technology offers substantial advantages over batch and other reactors, particularly in the pharmaceutical industry as well as in the fine and specialty chemicals industries. In addition to numerous other aspects, the outstanding heat transfer and simple scale-up provide advantage for process intensification with respect to yield, costs and safety.
