The Ahmedabad-based Bodal Chemicals has received environmental clearance (EC) from the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change for the expansion of dyes and dyes intermediates manufacturing facility located at Vadodara, Gujarat. The company is expanding its dyes & intermediates manufacturing capacity from 2,200 metric tonne per month (MTPM) to 6,000 MTPM, and set up a co-generation power plant (5MW) in Gujarat.

Bhavin Patel, executive director, Bodal Chemicals, said, “With this approval in place, company is in a position to plan to enhance its dyestuff manufacturing capacity at very low capital cost compare to cost of green field project or cost required for commencement of new plant in this sector. This is considering the ready civil structure, other infrastructure and utilities at our existing plant at the location.”

It took more than five years for Bodal Chemicals to get the said approval. “It is important to note that in the increasing trend of per unit power cost scenario, once 5 MW power plant is commissioned, company will be able to save significantly in power cost,” said Bodal Chemicals in a press release.

Bodal Chemicals, one of the leading manufacturers of dyes and dyes intermediates in the country, has the capacity to manufacture over 25 varieties of dye intermediates and around 150 variants in dyestuff which are mainly used as raw material in textile, leather, paper & other dye consuming industries. Out of the total production, the company exports about 40 percent to more than 35 countries across the world.
