The 112-year-old Shalimar Paints Ltd has informed BSE that a fire broke at the company's Howrah plant early morning on March 12, 2014. The company's staff immediately took steps to control it and also the local fire service department was informed accordingly.
With the collective efforts of the Fire Brigade and Shalimar Paints’ staff, the fire has been brought under control and there are no major injuries or any causality reported.
There has been damage to the plant, machinery and the inventory, however, the same are adequately covered under insurance, said the company in its BSE filing. The reasons of the fire are being determined.
