GACL to invest Rs 460 cr for hydrazine hydrate & phosphoric acid plants

Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd (GACL) is planning to spend about Rs 460 crores for building hydrazine hydrate and phosphoric acid plants at its Dahej facility in Gujarat.
 
GACL will invest Rs 160 crore for setting up a 10,000 tonnes per tonnes (TPA) hydrazine hydrate plant at Dahej. The project is planned to go on stream in 24 months from the zero date, said Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals in a BSE filing on May 27, 2016. Hydrazine hydrate is widely used as a reducing agent or an intermediate of synthesis in various sectors such as water treatment, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals.
 
The technology for hydrazine hydrate plant has been developed by GACL jointly with Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad. The hydrazine hydrate project when implemented would contribute to the annual sales revenue by approximately Rs 200 crores, according to GACL.
 
Meanwhile, the board of GACL has also approved the establishmnet of 33,870 TPA food grade phosphoric acid project at Dahej with an estimated cost of Rs 300 crores. The phosphoric acid project, which is planned to go on stream in 30 months from the zero date, when implemented would contribute to the annual sales revenue by approximately Rs 200 crores, said Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals.
