The Ashwin C Muthiah Group company Manali Petrochemicals Ltd (MPL), which had to shut down its refinery due to heavy rains and water-logging in Chennai, has announced the resumption of operations at its two plants in the manufacturing site. While the operations at MPL’s plant 1 has commenced on December 28, 2015, the production at plant 2 had started since the second week of December 2015. Plant 1 and 2 remained shut-down for 27 and 18 days, respectively.
With resumption of propylene supplies by Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) to both the plants, Manali Petrochemicals, a manufacturer of propylene oxide, propylene glycols and polyols, is currently ramping up production to the full levels. “In order to minimise the impact of the closure, actions have been taken to scale up the production to the maximum extent possible in the coming months,” said MPL in a BSE filing on January 4, 2016.
