 "RCF and BPCL tie up for water recycling project in Mumbai")
Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Ltd (RCF) has joined hands with another public sector undertaking (PSU) Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) in its quest to undertake water recycling initiative in Mumbai. RCF has signed an MoU with BPCL for setting up of new sewage treatment plant (STP) at Trombay, which will be named as RCF-BPCL Sewage Treatment Plant.
STP will have state-of-the-art technology with a designed capacity to treat 22.75 million litres per day (MLD) of municipal sewage to produce about 15 MLD of treated water. The treated water will then be shared by RCF and BPCL. The project is being set up with active support from Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai.
This will be second major sewage treatment project undertaken by RCF in Trombay. The company already has a STP, which can treat 5 million gallons (MG) of sewage to produce 3 MG of pure water per day.
