Sabero Organics receives closure notice from GPCB for Gujarat unit

The notice was served by the state pollution control board due to non-compliances of the environmental parameters

Sabero Organics Gujarat Ltd, a subsidiary of Coromandel International Ltd, has received a closure notice for its Sarigam unit from Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) due to environmental issues. On November 18, 2013, Sabero informed BSE that, “The company has received a letter, dated November 15, 2013, from the Environmental Engineer, GPCB, Gandhi Nagar, advising us to close our production process at our Sarigam unit in Gujarat, within 15 days of the letter, stating that there were certain non-compliances of the environmental parameters.”

Sabero stated that it has been making significant investments in the last two years for improving the environmental infrastructure and has been adhering to the environmental standards. “Company is taking necessary steps to address the concerns expressed by GPCB and to seek their permission to continue the operations,” it added.
