Tata Chemicals' Babrala plant wins safety award

The plant in Uttar Pradesh bagged the National Safety Council of India's (NSCI) Suraksha Puraskar in the manufacturing sector category

The Babrala plant, Uttar Pradesh, of Tata Chemicals recently bagged the NSCI’s Suraksha Puraskar in the manufacturing sector category. The award was conferred for implementing occupational safety and health (OSH) management systems and procedures at its Babrala plant. Tata Chemicals was awarded with a bronze trophy and a certificate for its commendable performance by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Government of India, at the NSCI Safety Awards function.
 
Speaking on this achievement, R Mukundan, MD, Tata Chemicals, said, "Our Babrala plant has sustainability and excellence at its core, emphasising operational health and safety measures. Such awards reinstate our commitment and dedication towards safety, health and environment. We believe the safety and health of the workforce is the basic necessity for the sustainable existence of any business. The Suraksha Puraskar from NSCI reinforces our belief and commitment to further the safety, health and environment initiatives."

NSCI Awards aim at providing national recognition to manufacturing and construction organisations and micro, small and medium enterprises for their consistent and meritorious operational and safety performance. The nominees undergo a rigorous assessment process. The data provided by the nominees are verified by enforcement agencies under the Factories Act and the Environment Protection Act. A technical team from NSCI also conducts a field visit to inspect the facilities of shortlisted organisations.
