ThyssenKrupp receives contract from Atul Ltd for caustic soda plant

ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions India – formerly Uhde India – has received a contract from Atul Limited, a manufacturer of basic chemicals and derivatives manufacturer, to render engineering, lumpsum supply of cell elements and site supervision services for its caustic soda conversion project at Valsad in Gujarat. The project envisages the conversion of Atul Limited’s existing mercury cell caustic soda facility at Atul near Valsad and to set-up a 75 tonne per day (tpd) membrane cell facility. The capacity of the plant will be expandable to 100 tpd.
 
The scope of services includes basic / detailed engineering, project management services & procurement services, inspection & expediting services for critical items, supply of imported proprietary membrane cell elements and site supervision services during start-up & commissioning.
 
The project will utilise the new generation membrane cell elements / technology which are widely sought out by caustic soda manufacturers due to their low energy consumption, longevity, environmental and low capex/opex considerations.
