Taiyo Vinyl Corporation, a subsidiary of Tosoh Group, will increase the annual polyvinyl chloride (PVC) production capacity at its Chiba plant, Japan, by 10,000 metric tonnes. New production facilities for the expanded capacity should be completed in October 2014.
The Chiba plant is a vital supply hub for Taiyo Vinyl. It ships PVC to over 50% of the subsidiary’s customers located in the Kanto region of Japan, which includes Tokyo. Replacing its aging production facilities with state-of-the-art facilities improves safety, enhances production efficiencies, stabilises supply, and raises the plant’s ability to meet increasing demand. Taiyo Vinyl and its parent company, Tosoh Corporation, look forward to utilising the capacity increase to serve in particular the enormous need for PVC in support of the ongoing recovery effort in the region of Japan destroyed by the Great East Japan Earthquake.
