In view of the slowdown in the power sector, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) should step up its activities in other areas like renewables (including solar), transportation, transmission and defence, said Anant Geete, Union Minister for Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, during his visit to BHEL New Delhi office yesterday.
Geete, who reviewed the performance and future readiness of BHEL, urged the public sector undertaking to gear up for future to face competition from domestic as well as overseas companies. He said that BHEL had the resilience to get into business areas that are long gestation in nature and where profits can begin to materialise over a period of time.
