Crompton Greaves bags order from ANDE to strengthen Paraguay's electricity network

The Avantha Group Company has won orders to the tune of over $ 25 million since 2014 from ANDE

Crompton Greaves (CG), a Avantha Group Company, has signed a contract with Administracion Nacional de Electricidad (ANDE), the national power utility of Paraguay, for the design, manufacturing, testing and supply of 245 kV, 72.5 kV and 23 kV switchgear equipment. The order comprises of SF6 gas circuit breakers, disconnectors, instrument transformers, lightning arresters and metal clad indoor VCB panels. CG will also provide spare parts, training, installation and commissioning services to ANDE. With this order, CG has emerged as one of the major suppliers of T&D equipment to ANDE ranging from single and three phase power transformers to shunt reactors, HV air insulated switchgear, MV switchgear, protection & control relays and smart meters.
 
Crompton Greaves has won orders from ANDE to the tune of over $ 25 million since 2014, cumulatively. These include the supply of high voltage Power products and Automation solutions, customised to enhance the reliability of ANDE’s transmission network.
 
The contract was won through a competitive international public bidding process. Crompton Greaves was selected for this prestigious order due to its successful track record in Paraguay, backed by global recognition of its technical expertise in manufacturing and supplying diversified switchgear products under one roof.
 
Paraguay is one of the world’s largest exporters of electricity, exporting to neighbouring Brazil and Argentina. The Paraguayan grid has 1.3 million customers and approximately 32,000 kms of distribution lines. It has been growing at the rate of 4 percent on a yearly basis since 2009. This order, to be executed in 2015, is part of Paraguay’s 220kV and 66kV grid expansion and modernisation project. CG will provide the equipment from its world class manufacturing bases in India and Brazil.
 
CG’s presence in South America spans two decades, with active involvement in the Generation, Transmission and Distribution sectors in Latin America and in the Caribbean, with an installed base of over 55,000 MVA, and up to 500kV. The company has a presence in over 28 countries in the region with active representation in most countries.
