Satish Reddy, chairman of Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, was appointed as the new chairman of the National Safety Council (NSC) on May 11, 2015. He will over the chairmanship from Venu Srinivasan - chairman of Sundaram-Clayton Group which includes TVS Motor Company - who steered the workings of the council since July 2011.
 
The National Safety Council is the apex body set up by the government of India, Ministry of Labour and Employment, to generate, develop and sustain a voluntary movement on safety, health and environment at the national level.
 
As a part of its mandate to make safety in India a way of life, the council conducts specialised courses and workshops across the nation, carries out safety audits and risk assessments, facilitates awareness camps in organisations and so on.
 
Satish Reddy commented, “It is an honour and privilege to be nominated as the chairman of the National Safety Council. The apex body has been doing commendable work since its inception. I look forward to working with my fellow council members in carrying forward key initiatives on health, safety and environment. Safety continues to be a critical factor in contributing to India’s positive growth trajectory.”
