The New Delhi-based polyester filament yarns producer Filatex India Ltd is planning to add a production line to manufacture downstream value-added products at its Dahej site in Gujarat. The company will invest Rs 200-250 crore for this project, and it expects the new production line to enhance its profitability.
“The Board of Directors of the company at its meeting held on October 31, 2014, inter alia, has considered and approved a proposal for putting up certain plants & machinery for manufacturing of downstream value added products at its existing unit at Dahej to enable the company to enhance its profitability and long term economic viability at an approximate cost of Rs 200-250 crores,” said Filatex in a BSE filing.
Filatex is one of the leading manufacturers of monofilament yarns for zippers, tooth brush bristles, velcro, magic fasteners and forming fabrics in India. The company also manufactures fully drawn yarns (FDY), which is used for better quality fabric.
In August 2012, Filatex started its own poly-condensation plant envisaging 600 metric tonne (MT) per day of poly-condensation and 300 MT per day of polyester partially oriented yarn (poy) at Dahej, Gujarat. By putting up this unit, the company joined the league of major POY manufacturers in the country.
