Texmaco Rail & Engineering has formed a joint venture with the US-based Wabtec Corporation, a global provider of value-added, technology-based products and services for rail and other industrial markets. The JV has been formed to initially provide hi-tech freight products and services such as draft gear, bogie mounted braking and other state-of-the-art railway products to the Indian Rail Network, which is expected to expand and modernise.
“This cooperation will enable the new entity to bring to the Indian Railways the latest generation of safety and control equipment and system, a critical need for Indian Railways and a high priority area for the Government,” said Texmaco Rail & Engineering in a press release.
Through its subsidiaries, Wabtec Corporation manufactures a range of products for locomotives, freight cars and passenger transit vehicles. The company also builds new switcher and commuter locomotives, and provides aftermarket services.
