Dr Reddy's launches antiviral drug valganciclovir

Dr Reddy’s Laboratories has launched valganciclovir tablets USP 450 mg, a generic version of Valcyte (owned by Hoffmann-La Roche Inc) tablets in the US market on December 15, 2014, approved by the United States Food & Drug Administration (USFDA).
 
Valcyte tablets brand had US sales of approximately $440 Million MAT for the most recent twelve months ending in October 2014, according to IMS Health.
 
Dr Reddy’s valganciclovir tablets, USP in 450 mg, will be available in bottle counts of 60.
 
Valganciclovir hydrochloride is an antiviral medicine prescribed to patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) for the treatment of cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis, an eye infection. Valcyte tablets are prescription medication given to patients who have a high chance of developing CMV disease after receiving a heart, kidney, or kidney-pancreas transplant. Valcyte helps prevent CMV disease in these patients.
