Andhra Petrochemicals has announced that its Visakhapatnam plant, which was affected by cyclone Hudhud that hit Andhra Pradesh on October 12, 2014, is expected to return to normalcy in within a month. The cyclone has also resulted in loss of production to the company.
“As a result of this recent cyclone, production loss would be around 150 MTs per day for the extended period of shut-down. Three to four weeks of time is required to restore normalcy,” said Andhra Petrochemicals in a BSE filing. The company has lodged a preliminary insurance claim of Rs 4 crores for the assets that has been damaged in the cyclone.
The plant, which manufactures oxo alcohols, has been shut down for more than five months now. The facility has been temporarily shut down since May 26, 2014, in the face of increasing low-cost imports into the country.
