The German firm Domo Chemicals, which recently opened a nylon compounding plant in China, is planning to enter India with a plastic compounding facility in the country, according to a Plastics News report. With this move, Domo Chemicals aims to target the country’s burgeoning automotive market, which demands high-quality auto component and accessories made from engineering plastics.

The company’s new plant at Jaixing (China) currently has 10,000 tonnes production capacity, which Domo aims to double by 2019. ‘The new plant emphasised our commitments to investing in Asia to meet their increasing expectations. We have seen a clear signal that the market demand for high value and high quality engineering plastics is increasing. For example, we have doubled our sales in the past year, and the automotive application, especially the under-the-hood applications, is driving this increase,’ commented Ludovic Tonnerre, Asia managing director at DOMO Engineering Plastics.

As part of Domo Engineering Plastics’ global manufacturing network, the new plant will serve Asian customers with an extensive variety of product solutions including Domamid Nylon 6 and 6.6 or high temperature Nylon (HTN) functionalised compounds to serve the automotive, electrical and consumer goods industries. With Econamid and Econamid ORO, the company’s engineering polymers range based on high quality pre-consumer waste feedstock, Domo Engineering Plastics is offering a complete assortment of sustainable nylon (PA6 and PA66) compounds.
