Petainer Innopac Packaging, a joint venture between Petainer UK Holdings and Innopac Containers, opened a blow moulded PET container plant near Mumbai on December 7, 2015. While the JV will manufacture Petainer’s 20-liter bulk water cooler jar, called PetainerCooler, at the new plant, it will source preforms, required for the blow moulding to make the jar, from Petainer’s European manufacturing facilities.
According to Atit Bhatia, managing director of Petainer Innopac Packaging, the plant and its strategic location will support the company’s ambitious growth plans for the region which is based on providing customers with an exciting portfolio of innovative and game changing solutions.
Petainer formed the JV with Innopac in February this year to further increase its global footprint and focus on introducing high performance PET/plastic packaging solutions to brand owners in India.
Nigel Pritchard, group CEO of Petainer UK Holdings, said, “India presents an exciting and dynamic market opportunity for our innovative packaging solutions. There is huge interest and demand from brand owners in India who genuinely recognise that Petainer’s advanced polymer engineering brings significant benefits in terms of reduced cost of ownership and improved sustainability.”
Innopac, established by Saket and Atit Bhatia (the promoting family of a leading metal packaging group in India - Hindustan Tin Works Ltd), is focussed on introducing high performance, sustainable and innovative packaging solutions to the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and non-food sector.
