Pluss Polymers, a materials research and manufacturing company, in association with Advit Foundation had arranged a session on electronic waste management to spread awareness about the impact of electronic waste on the health and environment while emphasising the need for its safe disposal. Held on August 8, 2014 at Manav Rachna International School, Gurgaon where approximately 200 students were briefed on hazardous effects of e-waste.
The session covered various topics pertaining to e-waste. The students and the staff were educated on what is e-waste and it types, how much of it is generated, its effects on human health and how to dispose it to enable safe recycling. The interactive talks consisted of presentations, short movie screenings on e-waste, concluded by a Q&A session. “We plan to reach out to more schools and organisations. It is our endeavour to educate the masses on the environmental and health effects of improper e-waste disposal,” said Samit Jain, Managing Director, Pluss Polymers.
After concluding the session, collection bins were installed on every floor of the school. The e-waste collection process will continue for a month followed by safe disposal of the e-waste by an authorised e-waste recycler. The workshop was also attended by 10-15 staff members and teachers.
