Over 8000 freezers and coolers integrated with Pluss Polymers’ savE PCMs have been commercially launched through various OEMs and are successfully operating across India since 2013.
Samit Jain, managing director, Pluss Polymers, commented, “Every award always feels like the first award and continues to stimulate the team to persistently work towards new inventions and enhancement of the existing technology. It is a moment of reaffirmation to be awarded for our PCM product, as we have always claimed to be the specialists in this sector.”
Phase change materials are innovative materials which offer the possibility to maintain desired temperatures with precision. They can store and release large amounts of thermal energy at a constant temperature and can be integrated in cold chain as an effective solution for distribution challenges. The thermal energy transfer occurs when a material changes from a solid to a liquid or from a liquid to a solid. This is called a change in state or phase.
PCMs are available in different encapsulations such as HDPE containers (thermoTabs), multilayer nylon pouches etc to suit the industry’s requirements. “With the availability of such innovative products, both industrialists and regulators should work towards defining and harmonising best practices,” said Pluss Polymers in a press release.
