Label Kuhoo is a homegrown woman-led Loungewear brand that strives to make luxurious & comfortable night suits. Started by Priya Bansal at the age of 23,while initially she decided to join her father’s business but her passion for fashion led her to pursue her own clothing brand.
In January 2020, Priya borrowed money from her father and hired a team to create dress samples, and got a photoshoot done for her website launch. However, just as she was about to launch the website, a nationwide lockdown was announced due to the pandemic. Despite this setback, Priya did not give up on her dreams yet postponed the launch until April and however having no prior customer base and no sales, she did not lay off anyone from her team and still continued to pay their salaries.
With a deep-rooted focus on creating fashionable yet sustainable products, Label Kuhoo has generated a revenue of 1 crore in First Year i.e. FY 20-21, followed by 1.72 crores revenue by the subsequent year.
According to Priya Bansal, Founder, Label Kuhoo“During Lockdown everyone was at the comfort of their homes and the concept of good nightwear was not even there in the market, I decided to upload the samples on our website and promote them on our Instagram page and got our first order. Later I learned about Facebook and Instagram advertisements. After two weeks, I put a lockdown sale and ran the advertisements myself, which resulted in orders worth Rs. 50,000 plus on the same day,”
She further reiterates,“My aspiration is to establish my brand as a leading apparel brand in India, and expand our product-line to include outerwear garments, in addition to our current line of loungewear and I hope to expand my business by opening physical stores in the future,”
She further adds,“What sets us apart from other brands is our commitment towards using 100% pure cotton for all our night suits, and offering a diverse range of high-quality products that are also sustainably made,”
Label Kuhoo’s business model is solely based on generating revenue through their own website currently, as they sell their products 100% online. As a profitable and bootstrapped business, they’re building on the success of their women's nightwear line.
Today they have expanded to include nightwear for men and kids and offer a wide range of nightwear and loungewear for women, with over 500 SKUs and 10 different types of loungewear to choose from Label Kuhoo sells their products not only in India but also globally.
Label Kuhoo aims at expansion in tier 2 and tier 3 cities, as well as to a larger global audience. The brand is determined to achieve a revenue target of over 5 crore in the next financial year.
Label Kuhoo started with just 5 SKU’s and now have over 500 SKU’s available on their website, showcasing the wide variety of nightwear and loungewear options they have to offer.
In future Label Kuhoo plans to expand their reach by getting registered on several online marketplaces, such as Amazon and Flipkart, to increase their customer base. In addition, they plan to open physical stores at various key locations to accentuate their brand presence and offer their customers the opportunity to experience the products in-person.
“We also plan to introduce an outerwear line to complement our current offerings and cater to more seasonal demands. Sustainability is important to us, so we aim to launch more varieties of loungewear and clothing that are not only stylish but also eco-friendly,”concludes Priya.
