Pranay Vivek Patil: Making the society a better place to live, one reform at a time

What makes a man a leader is his ability to communicate, create and solve issues of the people he is serving. A leader shows the light when the tunnel turns darker.

We as inpiduals, discover our identity when we find ourselves at a major cultural event that happens to shape the morale of a society. Sometimes, these events test the system.

Movements which affect a large section of society are such events where we have to decide which side we are on and if we are even a little bit conscientious, we need to be on the side of the oppressed.

During the farmers’ protest, I was often contemplating my own ideologies and political orientation. That is when I came across a man who knows what he talks about and when I dug a little deeper, I found out that this man has been fighting for the oppressed for a very long time.

The man i’m talking about is Pranay Vivek Patil, who is also a politician from Karnataka, known for his contribution towards uplifting the weaker sections of society and helping farmers raise their voices against policy-makers.

Pranay Vivek Patil has a very interesting story, a story that resembles the Hero’s journey that we read about in Joseph Campbell’s books.

Pranay who has done his formal education from Germany and is an engineer has a mind that always thinks about the poor sections of society. Pranay runs the Abhaji foundation which works with the same ideologies as him. He has been doing this for a long time and he’s seen as a hero in his constituency.

When we talked to Pranay, we found out his views that he shared with us and his concerns with the farm laws seemed quite legitimate. Pranay who is against Privatisation shared with us that our goal should be long term and it should take care of the farmers who are below the poverty line as they are more prone to corporate exploitations.

We dug even deeper and contacted people from Abhaji Kisan Sena to have deeper insights about Pranay’s ideologies and his concerns as a politician.

First we talked to A.Bichu who is the Inamdar of Kudachi and National director of Abhaji Kisan Sena and he told us, “Shri Vasantrao Patil’s grandson shri Pranay V. Patil has the same qualities that his grandfather had. He is a staunch follower of his grandfather’s ideology. He has the same ideals, same philosophy, same principles and same character as Shri V.L. Patil (Abhaji).”

While we were talking to him, he insisted us to talk with some small farmers and even they told us that it is only because of Pranay that their standard of living has changed as they have become more optimistic about the future. Pranay’s foundation also takes care of their children’s education and they are looking forward to a brighter future.

Another member of Abhaji Kisan Sena who also happens to be the president of Abhaji Kisan Sena told us, “For me Pranay bhaiyaji is the form of Mahakal. We have been together since childhood. Blood relatives have deceived me but not bhaiyaji. He has saved many families like mine from goons like khan.”

I am really moved by all this since it is quite rare to see such people in politics. However, India is changing and she is changing because of a new generation of leaders like Pranay Vivek Patil.
