Teerthanker Mahaveer University (TMU), Moradabad, and NVIDIA Corporation have signed on a collaborative memorandum to bring artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning (DL) to a new generation of students and developers. In order to achieve this joint goal, NVIDIA and TMU Moradabad intend to work together and establish a Centre of Excellence for AI Research at the University campus. The NVIDIA Jetson AI/DL Embedded Lab at the TMU Moradabad campus will help engineers, researchers, and data scientists to gear up for promising careers in artificial intelligence and deep learning robotics.
NVIDIA Corporation is an American multinational technology company incorporated in Delaware and based in Santa Clara, California, and is in the business of providing Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) based technologies with specific expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning.
“Education leads to transformation. Technology is the future of education and, thus, key to transformation. The combination of NVIDIA’s leading-edge technology for AI Computing and some of the finest minds in the country from TMU Moradabad will bring synergy to help find solutions to uniquely Indian challenges, be it enhancing crop yield or better medical imaging.” says Suresh Jain, Chancellor of Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad. NVIDIA and Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, intend to collaboratively work and take a step forward to embrace this future wholeheartedly.
To set up the NVIDIA Jetson AI/DL Embedded Lab, NVIDIA will provide twenty NVIDIA® Jetson Nano™ Developer Kits. They will also provide an assorted bundle of accessories to set-up the AI Lab along with NVIDIA JetPack SDK & NVIDIA DeepStream SDK. Additionally, the set-up bundle will include GPU-accelerated applications, pre-trained models, along with teaching kits for Deep Learning. NVIDIA will also be extending two Certification Tracks - the Jetson AI Specialist and Jetson AI Ambassador. The Jetson AI Specialist Certification will be open to both students and faculty members, and it recognizes core competency in Jetson and AI using a hands-on, project-based assessment. The Jetson AI Ambassador Certification is exclusively for academicians and recognizes competency in teaching AI on Jetson using a hands-on, project-based evaluation and an interview with the NVIDIA team. In addition to these certification courses, the Jetson Ambassadorship will provide additional benefits that include a freely available curriculum and open-source platforms for educators to build their AI curriculum. This relationship would also yield an NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute (DLI) Ambassador Workshop for the School of Computing Science and Information Technology at TMU Moradabad and an AI Hackathon sponsored by Edge AI Solutions in collaboration with Teerthanker Mahaveer University. Moreover, NVIDIA will provide access to its supercomputing and scientific application domain expertise and marketing support.
“TMU Moradabad is the first private university in the Delhi-NCR region to have partnered with NVIDIA to provide AI solutions to its students and faculty. Beyond just creating an awe-inspiring physical infrastructure by developing a campus culture that encourages skillful learning, we continuously aim to provide better opportunities by integrating academia with industry to enhance proficiency and intellectual superiority of our students.” says Manish Jain, Group Vice Chairman.
TMU Moradabad will provide the infrastructure for the Jetson AI Research Lab, including software and computing systems, and will maintain an active research program on GPU cloud computing. The University will include Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning Courses as electives – core or optional as applicable for the various educational streams offered by the University in the undergraduate and postgraduate branches. Leading faculties and academic researchers will be assigned by the University to start and run the programs. The University will also nominate a minimum of four educators or research assistants to apply and get certified as Jetson AI Ambassadors.
Speaking about this collaboration, Deepu Talla, Vice President & General Manager of Embedded and Edge Computing at NVIDIA South Asia, said, “NVIDIA is powering the AI revolution across research facilities everywhere. The NVIDIA Jetson AI/DL Embedded Lab at TMU Moradabad can potentially help India leapfrog ahead in the supercomputing world.”
Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, has been a leading beacon of excellence and a provider of quality education for the last two decades. Another step in the pursuit of making the university an ultimate destination for world-class education is the Memorandum of Understanding with NVIDIA to further the cause of advanced computing.
