Zimbabwe registered a huge 13-run win against India in the first match of the five-match series at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on Saturday, July 6. This win was special as the Chevrons defended 115 and bowled the Indian team out for 102 in 19.5 overs.
Chasing 116 to win, the Indian team was not able to stitch together a decent partnership as Zimbabwean skipper Sikandar Raza and Tendai Chatar picked three wickets each, for India, Shubman Gill top-scored with 31 while Washington Sundar made 27.
Earlier, after being asked to bat first, Zimabwbe, players did not utilise their starts as Wessley Madhevere, Brian Bennet and Dion Myers got out in the 20s while Raza made 17. Ravi Bishnoi took 4/13 but it was Clive Madande's unbeaten 29 off 25 balls and his 25-run stand with Chatra for the last wicket gave the Zimbabweans a chance to fight.
Earlier India skipper Gill won the toss and decided to field first. Riyan Parag and Abhishek Sharma have made their India debuts while Dhruv Jurel made his T20 international debut for India.
