NPCI to give nod to Paytm request for third-party app license this week

NPCI will approve Paytm request for third-party application license this week, news agency Reuters reported today citing sources. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is unlikely to extend the deadline of March 15 set for Paytm's banking unit, Paytm Payments Bank, to shut down its operations, Reuters said citing sources. Customers will be able to continue using the Paytm app to make payments through the unified payment interface (UPI) after the banking arm winds down.

Six Pakistanis with drugs worth Rs 480 crore nabbed by security agencies

Six Pakistanis were caught with a large quantity of narcotics in a joint operation of Gujarat ATS, Indian Coast Guard and NCB. Drugs worth Rs 480 crores were seized. They will be brought to Porbandar. The Coast Guard, ATS and NCB together have stopped the smuggling of drugs worth Rs 3,135 crores so far.

Customers will be able to continue using the Paytm app to make payments through the  unified payment interface (UPI) after the banking arm winds down, facilitated by the third-party application provider license.

A Tejas aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed near a student hostel in Rajasthan, news agency ANI reported today. A pilot was ejected from the aircraft safely, officials said. This is the first crash of the LCA Tejas since its first test flight, 23 years ago, in 2001. Tejas was inducted into the Indian Air Force in 2016.

Hours after the Centre implemented the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, Security measures was tightened in many parts of Delhi with paramilitary personnel conducting night patrols and flag marches in the northeastern parts of the city, Shaheen Bagh, Jamia Nagar and other areas. Protests were held across the country, including Jamia Millia Islamia and Shaheen Bagh,  after the CAA bill was passed in Parliament on December 11, 2019. After the central government implemented the CAA on Monday, notifying the rules four years after the law was passed, police in Delhi's northeast district identified 43 hotspots and conducted patrols there.

The Maldivian media reported on Monday that the first batch of Indian military personnel stationed in the Maldives manning a helicopter gifted by India have left the island nation. Approximately 25 Indian soldiers who were stationed in Addu city are now back in India after handing over the operations of a helicopter to an Indian civil crew, a media official for the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) informed reporters. There was no confirmation from India’s defence ministry on the withdrawal of the first batch of Indian military personnel from the Maldives as reported by the media in the Maldives.
