Indian Navy's Eastern Naval Command inaugurates AI hub in

The Indian Navy's Eastern Naval Command (ENC) on Monday inaugurated an Artificial Intelligence (AI) hub here as part of imbibing cutting-edge technologies.
The AI hub was inaugurated by Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, flag officer commanding-in-chief, ENC at the Maritime Reference Library in the port city.
 
"The AI hub is equipped with state-of-the-art AI tools and applications to enthuse personnel to take advantage of the transformational advances in Artificial Intelligence," said an official press release from the ENC.
 
According to the Navy, this initiative aims to foster exposure, learning and encourage follow-up of use cases across multiple domains.

Beryl weakens into tropical storm, US NHC says

Hurricane Beryl weakened to a tropical storm, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said on Monday in its latest advisory, with the storm now 20 miles (30 km) north-northwest of Houston, Texas.
 
Beryl now has maximum sustained winds of 70 mph (110 km/h), and is forecast to become a post-tropical cyclone on Tuesday.

Delhi's air quality 'satisfactory' for second consecutive day

Delhi's AQI was recorded in the 'satisfactory' category for the second consecutive day following days of rain and wind.
 
The Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded in the 'satisfactory' category with a reading of 56 at 6 pm, according to Central Pollution Control Board data.
The national capital recorded a maximum temperature of 32.2 degrees Celsius, a drop of three degrees from Sunday and four notches below normal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
 
The maximum temperature was 35.8 degrees Celsius on Sunday and 34.7 degrees on Saturday, according to IMD data.

Four soldiers killed, six injured in terrorist ambush in Kathua

Four army personnel were killed and six injured on Monday when terrorists ambushed their vehicle in the remote Machedi area of Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district, officials said.
 
The terrorists hurled a grenade and opened fire targeting Army vehicles which were on a routine patrol on the Machedi-Kindli-Malhar road at around 3.30 pm near Badnota village in Lohai Malhar, 150 km from Kathua town.

Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Monday called on Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey during his visit to the state. After visiting relief camps in several places and interacting with ethnic violence victims lodged there, the Congress leader met Uikey in the Raj Bhavan here in the evening.

PM Modi reached Russia on Monday on a two-day high-profile visit to Russia during which he will hold summit talks with President Vladimir Putin. 

A total of 46.7 million jobs were created in the financial year ended March 2024, taking the country's total employment to 643.3 million, a Reserve Bank of India report showed on Monday. The country's employment growth rate stood at 6 per cent in that fiscal year, versus 3.2 per cent in the previous fiscal year, the RBI's report on measuring industry level productivity and employment showed.

The Supreme Court bench, led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, heard a clutch of pleas seeking the cancellation of controversy-ridden medical entrance exam NEET-UG 2024. During the hearing on Monday, the SC said that if the sanctity of the medical entrance exam NEET-UG 2024 is "lost" and if the leak of its question paper has been propagated through social media, then a re-test has to be ordered. It also said if the question paper leak was taking place through Telegram, WhatsApp and electronic means, then "it spreads like wildfire".

The city of dreams never sleeps but it may have to swim as heavy overnight rainfall have inundated several low-lying areas of India's financial capital. Consequently, BEST buses have been diverted. Further, due to low visibility, 27 flights were diverted. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Russia on Monday for the first time in five years. PM Modi is set to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin during the visit, which will stretch into Tuesday. An array of bilateral issues, ranging from defence ties to trade, are expected to be discussed during the meeting between the two leaders.
