No respite from sultry weather in Delhi, max temp 37.7 Deg C

Sultry weather conditions persisted in Delhi on Wednesday with the maximum temperature settling at 37.2 degrees Celsius and traces of rain in some parts of the national capital.
 
The humidity level at 5.30 pm was recorded at 68 per cent while it stood at 77 per cent in the morning, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
 
On Tuesday, the humidity level oscillated between 80 per cent and 56 per cent.
 
Traces of rain -- between 0.1 mm and 0.4 mm -- were recorded in the afternoon across all weather stations in Delhi, except Ayanagar that recorded 2.9 mm of rainfall between 8.30 am to 5.30 pm, IMD data showed.
 
The IMD has forecast generally cloudy sky with possibility of moderate rain for Thursday.
 
The maximum temperature of Delhi settled at 37.2 degrees Celsius, around two notches above the normal, it said. The minimum temperature was recorded at 29.8 degrees Celsius in the morning.

This will be reviewed and decided in the coming days, according to Karnataka CMO.

2 killed as truck hits bike in UP

Two people, including a woman, were killed on Wednesday when their motorcycle was hit by a truck in Shahpur area here, police said.
The incident took place near Kadka village when Dharmendra, 35, and his mother-in-law Virmati, 55, were returning to Muzaffarnagar from Budhana.
Efforts are on to trace the truck driver who managed to flee from the spot, police said.

Haryana govt announces 10% job quota, Rs 60,000 subsidy for Agniveers

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced that the state government will provide 10 per cent quota for Agniveers in posts of constable, mining guard, forest guard, jail warden and special police officer. He also declared that the state government will  give  a subsidy of Rs 60,000 per annum to the industrial unit that pays an Agniveer a salary of Rs 30,000 per month.

An oil tanker carrying 16 crew members, including 13 Indians, went missing after it capsized off the coast of Oman on Monday, the sultanate's Maritime Security Centre (MSC) said.  The crew of 'Prestige Falcon', a Comoros-flagged oil tanker included 13 Indians and three Sri Lankans onboard, the MSC tweeted on Thursday. The vessel capsized 25 nautical miles southeast of Ras Madrakah near the port town of Duqm, the MSC said in a post on X. Oman's maritime security centre  informed Reuters that the oil tanker remained "submerged and inverted". It, however, did not clarify  whether the tanker had stabilised or whether oil or oil products were leaking into the sea.

After a poor show in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, four leaders have quit Ajit Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Maharashtra's Pimpri Chinchwad. Ajit Gavhane, the chief of NCP's Pimpri-Chinchwad unit, is among those who have resigned from the party. The others are Pimpri Chinchwad Students' Wing chief Yash Sane, and former corporators, Rahul Bhosale and Pankaj Bhalekar. There is a buzz that these leaders are likely to join the party led by Sharad Pawar later this week.
