As many as 29 constituent stocks on the Nifty50 ended in the red, dragged by Tata Motors, Eicher Motors, Tata Steel, Coal India, and JSW Steel, with a fall of up to 1.36 per cent. Conversely, Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto, Bharti Airtel, NTPC, and Mahindra were among the 21 Nifty50 stocks that ended higher, with gains of up to 3.25 per cent on Tuesday.
From the BSE space, 15 constituent stocks on the Sensex ended lower, dragged by Tata Motors, JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Adani Ports, ITC, and Power Grid Corporation of India, down up to 1.29 per cent. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel, NTPC, Mahindra & Mahindra, Larsen & Toubro, and Titan Company ended in the green with gains of up to 1.61 per cent.
Shares of Bajaj Housing Finance continued their northward march for the second consecutive day on the bourses, hitting the 10 per cent upper circuit of Rs 181.50 on Tuesday.
Among the broader indices, the Nifty Smallcap 100 index snapped its 3-day winning streak to settle at 19,465.55, down 0.40 per cent on Tuesday. The Nifty Midcap 100 index settled down 0.19 per cent at 60,180.75 on Tuesday.
The Nifty Realty index was the top sectoral gainer, with gains led by Prestige and Sobha, while the Nifty PSU Bank index was the top laggard, dragged by PNB and IOB.
Meanwhile, Nifty IT, FMCG, Finanncial Serives, Private Bank, Auto, and OMCs indices manged to settle higher on Tuesday.
