Mohan Charan Majhi to be new Odisha Chief Minister
Senior BJP leader Mohan Charan Majhi will be the new chief minister of Odisha, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced on Tuesday in Bhubaneswar. Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida were named Deputy Chief Ministers. This announcement follows the BJP's recent victory in the state, where they won 78 out of 147 seats, securing power on their own for the first time. The state legislature unit met on Tuesday, June 11, to elect Majhi, a tribal leader, who will be sworn in as Chief Minister on Wednesday, June 12.
