The central government has said that digital current affairs and news portals along with online content providers such as Netflix and Hotstar have been brought under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting,  presently headed by Prakash Javadekar. And this shall come into force at once. The government has issued a gazette notification for the same, with the President of India approving the order.
