Air-conditioner maker Blue Star Ltd on Wednesday said Oman's WJ Towell & Co LLC has increased claim to Rs 461.74 crore from it in their ongoing arbitration proceedings at International Chamber of Commerce. In April this year WJ Towell & Co LLC (WJT) had filed arbitration proceedings against Blue Star with International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) claiming OMR 103,18,000 (approximately Rs 223.6 crore) plus an interest of 7 per cent on the total claim amount, the company said in a regulatory filing. "In the statement of claim received by the company on October 1, 2024, the claim amount has been revised to OMR 2,11,80,748 (approximately Rs 461.74 crore) plus interest of 7 per cent on the total claim amount," it added. Air conditioning maker and engineering services provider Voltas Ltd on Monday reported an over two-fold jump in consolidated net profit at Rs 335 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2024, led by a "significant volume growth" from its room AC business. The India room air-conditioners (RAC) market is likely to grow at a healthy CAGR of 12 per cent to reach Rs 50,000 crore by FY 2028-29, Tata group firm Voltas said in its latest annual report. The competition in the Indian RAC market has "intensified" with the presence of homegrown and leading foreign players, said Voltas, a market leader in the segment. Air conditioner and commercial refrigeration system maker Blue Star Ltd on Thursday reported a 29 per cent decline in its consolidated net profit to Rs 159.71 crore for the fourth quarter of 2023-24. The company had reported a net profit of Rs 225.29 crore in the January-March quarter of FY2022-23, a regulatory filing showed. Blue Star's total income increased to Rs 3,340.16 crore in the quarter under review from Rs 2,830.48 crore in the January-March period of the previous fiscal. Its total expenses were also higher at Rs 3,126.38 crore in the fourth quarter of 2023-24, compared with Rs 2,485.46 crore in the corresponding period last year. Homegrown cooling products maker Blue Star on Tuesday said it expects up to 25 per cent growth in sales of residential AC in the June quarter, the period which accounts for the highest number of sales due to the temperature rise and heat wave. The company has already witnessed up to a 40 per cent year-on-year increase in sales of AC in March from the Southern region, where sales of cooling products start early, Blue Star Managing Director B Thiagarajan said. Leading residential air conditioner maker Voltas on Sunday said it has recorded a 35 per cent sales growth to over two million units in FY24, becoming the first company in the domestic market to cross this mark. The performance was attributed to a consistent demand for cooling products during the year, coupled with a strong offline and online distribution network, and new innovative launches, the Tata Group firm said in a statement. "The company achieved over 2 million AC units during this fiscal 2023-24, the highest ever sale of ACs by any brand in a financial year in India, with a volume growth of 35 per cent," it added.
