Amazon Web Services plans to invest USD 8.2 billion in Maharashtra by 2029-30 to deploy latest and best compute facility and cloud management services, union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Monday. The minister said that Amazon Web Services (AWS) plans to significantly increase employment in India as well. "The team of Amazon Web Services met today. They explained their entire plan of investing about USD 8.2 billion in Maharashtra in the coming few years going into 2029-30," Vaishnaw said. He said AWS is very optimistic about growth in India. "They are bringing the latest technologies, they are deploying the latest GPUs which is what they shared today. They are deploying some of the best compute facilities and cloud Management Services in India. "Along with the investment, there will be significant growth in employment also. Amazon web services shared that they will be adding a significant number of jobs in India in the coming years," Vaishnaw said.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) will invest Rs 60,000 crore to expand its data centre infrastructure in Telangana, state government said. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu held meetings with senior executives from AWS at the ongoing World Economic Forum at Davos, Switzerland, it added. "AWS will be expanding its data centres in Hyderabad in a big way with plans for fresh investment of around Rs 60,000 crores. With this AWS Region in Hyderabad will play an increasingly important role in supporting AWS's growth of cloud services in India, including AI in the future," a state government press release issued on Thursday stated. Amazon Web Services (AWS) on Thursday said it is committing up to USD 100 million in cloud credits over the next five years to help eligible educational institutions and underserved students worldwide develop and scale digital learning solutions. The programme, a part of AWS Education Equity Initiative, will grant recipients cloud credits, which function similarly to cash, allowing organisations to reduce their expenses when utilising AWS's cloud services. "At AWS, we are committed to levelling the playing field in education, ensuring learners from underrepresented and underserved communities have equal access to transformative learning opportunities. IT company Comviva has collaborated with Amazon Web Services to build a cloud-first and AI-driven strategy to achieve faster time to market and drive non-linear revenue growth, the company said on Monday. Under the collaboration, Comviva will offer Communication Service Providers (CSP) next-generation software products and platforms that are built on AWS through a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model. Amazon Web Services (AWS) on Friday launched a space accelerator programme to support 24 startups. Through the 14-week programme, AWS said it will support selected space-tech startups in the growth journey with expertise, mentorship, and AWS credits cumulatively worth up to USD 100,000. "It is a direct result of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement AWS signed with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) in 2023, to jointly support the growth and development of space startups in India," a company statement said. The programme, which the firm claims to be India's first-ever, is supported by T-Hub, an innovation hub and ecosystem enabler, and Minfy, an AWS Premier Partner. The startups selected for the AWS Space Accelerator: India 2024 program operate in a range of space segments such as spacecraft propulsion, orbital and launch vehicles, satellite imagery, geospatial applications, weather analysi
