Anirudh Chaudhry, cricket administrator-turned-politician contesting on Congress ticket from Tosham (family seat). Fielded against cousin Shruti (from BJP) - both are grandchildren of the late former Haryana CM Bansi Lal. Bansi Lal first won the seat in the 1967. Bansi Lal had two sons - Mahendra and Surendra - didnt get along. Surendra represented family seat but died in a chopper crash in 2005. the his wife Kiran Chaudhry got the seat, represented four times as Congress MLA then swtiched to BJP in June. Shruti is daughter of Kiran.
Family-career: Aniruddh's father Mahendra - known for defeating Sharad Pawar to become the BCCI president in 2004. Mahendra was a one-time MLA but not from Tosham.
A former manager of the Indian cricket team, Anirudh, 48, is a former member of the IPL Governing Council and a former treasurer of the BCCI. He is also a lawyer. Like their father, Anirudh and Shruti will fight for family seat. Even though this is his first election, he is known as a public figure in the region.
