Axis Asset Management Company (Axis AMC) and Axis Mutual Fund Trustee on Tuesday settled with markets regulator Sebi a case related to an alleged violation of mutual fund norms by paying Rs 16.57 lakh. Axis AMC is the investment manager of Axis Mutual Fund. The SCN was issued to Applicant 1 (Axis AMC) as it has incurred the excess expenses of the mutual fund scheme, thereby allegedly violating the Sebi rules, whereas Axis Mutual Fund Trustee (applicant 2) by not ensuring the compliance of Applicant 1 with the Mutual Fund regulations, Sebi said in the order. The order came after the applicants proposed to settle the instant proceedings initiated against them, without "admitting or denying the findings of facts and conclusions of law". The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) initiated adjudication proceedings against the Axis AMC for the alleged violation of Sebi rules and against the Axis Mutual Fund Trustee Ltd for the alleged violation of Mutual Funds rules. Axis Mutual Fund on Tuesday launched an open-ended fund of ETF -- wherein the underlying investments comprise US treasury securities -- and is expecting to garner at least Rs 100 crore in the opening week. The seventh largest fund house expects to mop up at least Rs 500 crore from the US treasury dynamic bond ETF in the next one year. The fund house said the NFO, which will be managed by Vinayak Jayanath, will close on December 19. If redeemed/switched-out within one month from the date of allotment, the fund house will charge an exit load of 0.25 per cent, it said, adding that if redeemed after one month from the date of allotment, there will be no such charges. The ETF is benchmarked against the Bloomberg US intermediate treasury index, and has the primary investment objective of providing regular income by investing in units of overseas ETFs, B Gop Kumar, the chief executive of the company, said.

Axis Mutual Fund on Wednesday launched a manufacturing fund and has set a target of collecting at least Rs 2,500 crore during the offer period. The Axis Bank subsidiary which competes with 44 other players, is also eyeing around Rs 3 lakh AUM by the end of this fiscal, given the market rally. The fund house opened the year with an AUM (assets under management) over Rs 2.25 lakh crore. The open-ended equity scheme represents the manufacturing theme and opens for subscription from December 1 and closes on December 15. Axis Mutual Fund expects to mop up at least Rs 200 crore from its new fund offer that tracks the Nifty' SDL or state government securities during the primary sales period. The open-ended target maturity index fund will invest in the constituents of the Nifty SDL September 2026 index, the fund house said in a statement on Friday. The New Fund Offer (NFO) opens on Friday and closes on November 16, it said without disclosing how much the company is targeting to garner. However, Raghav Iyengar, the chief business development officer at the fund house, told PTI that the company has set an internal target of garnering at least Rs 200 crore during the NFO. Axis Mutual Fund is targeting to garner Rs 100 crore from its Nasdaq 100 fund of fund during the primary sales period, a company official said on Thursday. The open-ended fund of fund scheme, open for subscription from Friday through October 21, will invest in the overseas units of exchange traded funds (ETFs) focused on the Nasdaq 100 index, the fund house said on Thursday while announcing the NFO from Friday. "We are targeting to mobilise at least Rs 100 crore from the new offering during the new fund offer period," Raghav Iyengar, the chief business development officer at the fund house, told PTI when asked about the corpus being targeted.
