Two-wheeler sales grow in double digits
Kia India on Monday said its total wholesales increased 10 per cent year-on-year to 21,300 units in June. The automaker had dispatched 19,391 units to dealers in June 2023. Kia India also reported 1,26,137 unit sales in the first half of the year, marking a 6 per cent growth over the year-ago period. "We have observed a healthy month-on-month sales growth in H1 2024, averaging over 21,000 units per month. Our superior product offerings have consistently attracted customers to our showrooms throughout the year, maintaining a strong sales position," Kia India Senior VP and Head Sales & Marketing Hardeep Singh Brar said in a statement. The automaker is committed to sustain this positive trend for the remainder of the year through network expansion, he added.
Automaker Stellantis on Saturday said it has appointed Shailesh Hazela as CEO and Managing Director of India operations. Hazela succeeds Aditya Jairaj, who will be relocating to the US. Previously, Hazela served as Vice President, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain for India & Asia Pacific region for Stellantis. He brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in driving growth and innovation, the company said in a statement. Since joining Stellantis in September 2022, Hazela has focused on leveraging the supply base across India, ASEAN, Korea, Japan, and other regions, and developing the supply base for Stellantis in India & Asia Pacific (IAP) region, it added. Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Wednesday said its wholesales increased 75 per cent year-on-year to 15,338 units in February 2023. The company had dispatched 8,745 units in the domestic market in February last year. "We are witnessing a continued interest from customers across our product portfolio, resulting in a very healthy growth in the month of February 2023," TKM Sales and Strategic Marketing Vice President Atul Sood said in a statement. The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India is keeping a close watch on the price movement of commodities, which had touched an 'unprecedented' high in the second quarter, to fix its vehicle prices in the future as it has not fully passed on the impact to consumers, according to a senior company official. The company is hoping for a softening of commodity prices, which also move cycles, having "sort of reached the peak". "Material cost is an important cost in the overall cost structure for any OEM (original equipment manufacturer). Normally, 70-75 per cent of the total cost of an OEM is material cost. "In the second quarter, our material cost to net sales ratio had gone up to a very high figure of 80.5 per cent.
