Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday said India is well placed to contribute towards strengthening and diversifying supply chains. Speaking at the launch of 'Partnership for Resilient and Inclusive Supply-chain Enhancement' on the sidelines of the World Bank-IMF Annual Meetings in Marrakech, Morocco, Sitharaman said India is undertaking some of the most robust climate actions through its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). This includes an ambitious programme for a transition to clean energy and the RISE partnership is completely in sync with India's domestic policy of prioritising Clean Energy. Highlighting the hard-earned consensus by the G20 India Presidency on the need to rapidly scale up renewable energy capacity, the finance minister said the Global Biofuels Alliance initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders Summit in New Delhi, is a positive step towards promoting global cooperation on sustainable biofuels and
The urgency for Southeast Asian nations to switch to clean energy to combat climate change is reinvigorating a 20-year-old plan for the region to share power. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations or ASEAN is a political and economic gathering of 10 countries across a vast region, from tiny Brunei and Singapore to military-controlled Myanmar and fast-rising economic power Vietnam. Experts describe imports by Singapore of hydroelectric-generated power from Laos via transmissions through Thailand and Malaysia as a pathfinder project,

The project will connect solar plants in the sun-drenched deserts of Rajasthan and Gujarat and wind farms in Tamil Nadu to the national network
India's government is studying a slower retirement of aging coal-fired power plants as it also adds newer sites, a move that would keep fossil fuel capacity higher for years
Produce world-record total of 59 megajoules of heat energy from fusion over 5 seconds
There has been a recent spurt of investor interest in India's renewables space, with the outlook for the sector, as well as for electricity demand growth, remaining strong
"The war on coal is over," EPA head Pruitt said in a televised speech at an event
