Republic Day: Delhi Police issues traffic advisory, imposes restrictions

Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory for Republic Day celebration informing commuters about the restrictions and diversion in place on several roads. Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) DK Gupta told PTI Videos that the entry at the borders of the city will be restricted from Saturday evening. "We have made a detailed traffic plan according to which from 9 pm on Saturday (January 25), the entry at the bordering areas will be restricted and only essential vehicles will be allowed. This restriction will be in placed till the parade gets over," Gupta stated. Apart from this, there will be diversions on the roads leading to the parade route from Vijay Chowk to Red Fort. The traffic restriction will be in place on C-Hexagon after 9.15 pm on Saturday, he said. Delhi Police enforces traffic restriction, to bolster security for New Year

Delhi Police has made elaborated traffic arrangements and restrictions across the national capital, especially at Connaught Place, and deployed nearly 20,000 police and paramilitary personnel in the city on the eve of New Year celebration to maintain law and order, officials said on Tuesday. A senior police official said that 50 teams, equipped with alcometers, will be stationed at key locations to monitor and prosecute any instances of drunk driving. The picket staff will also have alcometers for further check. According to the police, the traffic personnel will also be present in significant numbers throughout the city, focusing on popular celebration hotspots like Connaught Place, Hauz Khas and India Gate. Delhi Traffic Police tightens vehicle checks amid Grap 4 restrictions

Delhi Traffic Police has ramped up vehicle checks in the national capital and the bordering areas after the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage IV was implemented here to curb the worsening air quality, officials said on Tuesday. The Centre's air quality panel for Delhi-NCR on Monday invoked stringent measures under Stage IV of the air pollution control plan as the region's air quality turned "severe" due to unfavourable meteorological conditions. Delhi fines 260,000 vehicles over Rs 260 cr for pollution violations

Authorities' crackdown on air pollution has hit violators hard in the city, with over Rs 260 crore in fines imposed on more than 2.6 lakh vehicles lacking Pollution Under Control Certificates (PUCC) in just 50 days. The crackdown was implemented under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). Between October 16 and December 6, the Environment Department issued 260,258 challans across all four stages of GRAP. Breaking down the time period and stages, a total of 12,756 challans were imposed in Stage 1 from October 16 to October 22, 111,235 in Stage 2 between October 22 and November 14, 13,938 in Stage 3 from November 15 to November 17, and 114,089 in Stage 4 from November 18 to December 5. Meanwhile, 8,240 challans were issued in Stage 2 after Stage 4 restrictions were lifted on Thursday, with Stage 2 restrictions remaining in effect, according to official data. Delhi traffic police slaps fines totalling Rs 1 cr for Grap-3 violations

Delhi Traffic Police has issued around 550 challans, imposing a total fine of over Rs one crore, to BS III petrol and BS IV diesel vehicles on Friday on the first day of the ban on these vehicles under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) III in the national capital, officials said. According to police, they have also issued challans to 4,855 vehicles imposing a total of Rs 4.8 crore in fines for not having Pollution Under Control Certificates (PUCC) in the national capital on Friday. The Delhi Police will impose restrictions in parts of Delhi on Saturday for the Run for Inclusion event being organised by Special Olympic Bharat as well as a cycling event from Saturday to Tuesday. In an advisory on Thursday, the police said the Run for Inclusion event, in which people with and without intellectual disability would participate, would be held between 7 and 10 am on Saturday. Amid a rise in air pollution levels in the national capital, the traffic police have imposed penalties to the tune of Rs 47 crore on motorists between October 1 and 24 for pollution certificate violations, an official said on Wednesday. The traffic police have issued over 47,000 challans to motorists. A fine of Rs 10,000 is imposed on motorists for not having a valid pollution under control (PUC) certificate. According to the data provided by the Delhi Traffic Police, a special drive was launched this month in which 47,363 challans for PUC violations were issued to motorists between October 1 and 24. Delhi Traffic Police issues over 87,000 challans this year till Sep 15

Delhi Traffic Police has issued over 87,000 challans and more than three lakh notices for red light violations this year till September 15, as per the official data. According to the police, challans are issued by the traffic personnel on-site while notices are generated online though the traffic violation detection cameras. The data showed that a total of 87,430 challans for red light violations were recorded this year till September 15 compared to 66,774 in 2023 and 67,462 in 2022. The highest numbers of 17,741 challans were issued in New Delhi district, followed by 11,211 in south district, 10,109 in west, 8,719 in southeast and 6,790 in southwest. Among the 15 police districts in Delhi, the least numbers of 1,140 challans were reported in northeast district, the data said.
