Water supply in northwest Delhi's Rohini locality would be affected for 18 hours from the morning of September 25 due to maintenance work, the Delhi Jal Board said on Friday. According to a statement, the affected areas include Rohini Sector-9, Sector-11, Sector-13, Sector-16, Sector-17, ESI Hospital, Rithala Village and the adjoining areas. "Due to interconnection works in the 1100-mm dia Rohini water main emanating from Haiderpur WW-II, the water supply shall remain affected from the morning of September 25 (10 am) to the morning of September 26 (4 am)," it said. Due to the repair work, the water supply will be stopped for 18 hours, it added. The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) advised residents of the affected areas to store a sufficient quantity of water in advance. It said water tankers will be made available upon demanding those on the DJB's helpline or the central control room.

Delhi water minister Atishi has directed the chief secretary to convene an urgent meeting after complaints of blue foam water coming from taps of houses in Peeragarhi emerged. According to a statement, the situation came to light after a video circulated on social media showing blue foamy water flowing from taps of houses in Peeragarhi. Mentioning the urgency, it was stated, "This could be just the tip of a bigger underlying problem and could have very serious consequences in the future. This needs to be addressed immediately." The minister directed the chief secretary to call an urgent meeting of all senior officials from concerned departments, the statement said. "The chief secretary is directed to convene a meeting with senior officials, crack down on polluting units, and submit a detailed report by Monday, July 29, 5 pm," it said.

The Munak Canal breach that led to flooding in the Bawana area and impacted the water supply in different parts of the city has been fixed, the Delhi government said on Friday. In a statement issued late night, it said water is likely to reach the Dwarka plant by Saturday morning. Residents of the area have been grappling with water shortage since the breach in one of the sub-branches of the canal, which supplies water from Haryana to Delhi, late Wednesday. Water minister Atishi said she would continue her indefinite hunger strike, which entered the fourth day on Monday, despite adverse health effects until Haryana released the "rightful share of Delhi's water". "My blood pressure and sugar levels are dropping and my weight has gone down. Ketone level is very high which can have harmful effects in the long run. The Central Water Commission (CWC) has released the live storage status of 150 key reservoirs across India in its latest bulletin. These reservoirs, crucial for hydroelectric projects and water supply, have a combined live storage capacity of 178.784 billion cubic meters (BCM), which is approximately 69.35 per cent of the total live storage capacity created in the country. As of Thursday, the live storage available in these reservoirs is 37.662 BCM, which is 21 per cent of their total capacity. Overall, the live storage available across the 150 reservoirs stands at 54.310 BCM against the estimated total capacity of 257.812 BCM. Delhi Water Minister Atishi on Wednesday said that she has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the water crisis in the national capital and threatened to go on an indefinite strike from June 21 if the issue is not resolved within a couple of days. Delhi Water minister Atishi on Sunday wrote to Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora requesting deployment of personnel for patrolling and protecting major pipelines for next 15 days, as the national capital grapples with a water crisis. The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Delhi government to approach the Upper Yamuna River Board (UYRB) for water supply as Himachal Pradesh took a U-turn and told the top court that it did not have surplus water to spare. A vacation bench of Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and Prasanna B Varale asked the Delhi government to submit an application to the UYRB by 5 pm seeking supply of water to the national capital on humanitarian grounds.
