Indian e-commerce major Flipkart on Wednesday said it has partnered with payment solutions company BillDesk to expand its digital payment offerings with five new categories. The expansion includes recharge and bill payment categories, including FasTag, DTH recharges, landline, broadband, and mobile postpaid bill payments, on the Flipkart app. The home-grown marketplace has partnered with BillDesk to help integrate the new services with Bharat Bill Payments System (BBPS), developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). The new services are in addition to the existing electricity bill payment and mobile prepaid recharge options. Dish TV on Tuesday proposed to appoint Manoj Dobhal as the new CEO of the company as incumbent Anil Dua has decided to quit the direct-to-home company. Dobhal is the current Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the company. Dish TV is embroiled in a tussle between its largest shareholder Yes Bank Ltd (YBL) and the promoter family led by its former chairman Jawahar Lal Goel over board representation in the company. Direct-to-Home operator Dish TV India Ltd and four others have settled with markets regulator Sebi a case pertaining to alleged non-disclosure of voting results of the company's Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on December 30, 2021. Apart from Dish TV, its promoter Jawahar Lal Goel, group chief executive Anil Kumar Dua, compliance officer Ranjit Singh and Ashok Mathai Kurien, who was the director of the company, settled the case. These five entities have settled the case after collectively paying Rs 65.34 lakh towards settlement amount, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) said in an order. This came after the entities proposed Sebi to settle the alleged violations of regulatory norms through a settlement order, "without admitting or denying the findings". The government on Friday capped the number of platform channels on direct-to-home (DTH) services at 5 per cent of the operators' total channel carriage capacity. The operational guidelines in respect of "licence fee", "platform services" and "sharing of infrastructure" for DTH services in India, issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), also bar the platform service channel from sharing content directly or indirectly with any other distribution platform operator (DPO). Platform service channels are programmes transmitted by DPOs exclusively to their own subscribers. The definition excludes Doordarshan and registered television channels as also the foreign channels not registered in India. "The content of the PS to be exclusive to the platform and is not to be shared directly or indirectly with any other Distribution Platform Operator," the guidelines said.
